The Office of Technology Transfer and Corporate Partnerships is committed to having every discovery reach its full potential. Our goal is to make the technology transfer process and working with industry as easy as possible. Our team is dedicated to having researchers participate in the commercialization process and find the best commercial partners for research.

By aggressively pursuing intellectual property, we help Caltech and JPL innovators protect their ideas and inventions. Provisional patent applications are filed on nearly all invention disclosures our office receives and non-provisional patent protection is pursued on nearly half of the inventions. Decisions to pursue patent protection are based on the commercial potential of the invention, its state of development, along with other factors.

We pride ourselves on being business-friendly when it comes to licensing Caltech intellectual property. OTTCP works to effectively commercialize innovations by licensing Caltech and JPL technologies to established companies or startups. We actively support the formation of startup companies based on Caltech and JPL technologies.
